Fusion is the weekly gathering for teens from grades 8 through 12. The Canadian youth culture propels many at-risk young people into gang involvement, drug and alcohol use, violence, and sexual experimentation. Fusion offers a safe, fun, and challenging alternative to the youth of Surrey.
Every Friday night, the Metro Kids Society sends out vans to the roughest neighbourhoods of Surrey and brings in some truly amazing young people to Fusion events. Most of the teens have grown up attending Kids Klub and almost half of them are now serving as workers in other Metro Kids' outreaches.

Jenny realized at a Fusion event that the type of music she was listening to was negatively affecting her outlook on life. Since she chose to delete all adverse music from her phone, the leaders of Metro Kids have seen significant personal growth.
Billy has been a regular attender at Fusion for several years. At first, because of his autism, it was challenging for him to engage with the group. However, the youth staff was persistent. They found creative ways to engage him in the events and provided a lot of personalized care and consistency. He is now more open to the leaders and is showing heartening hope and growth.
When Dustin first came to Fusion he was quiet and would isolate himself from the group, not engaging with the program. Then he chose to join the Impact Team leadership development program. Through the Impact classes, he made a decision to turn his life over to God's control. Since that time, he has much more peace and happiness in his life. He has come out of his shell and has realized that he doesn't have to live the gang lifestyle that he sees all around him.
Lisa is new at Fusion since spring. Her friends invited her out and she made some immediate connections with the other teens. Even though she is only in grade 8, she bravely stood up in front of her peers to share her story and to encourage the rest of the group. She continues to be a great example to the rest of the Fusion group and is making a positive difference.
Metro Kids Impact Team serving the Kids Klubs
During June, July, and August, Metro Kids Society sends out a specially trained team of staff and interns into the Surrey city streets. They bring with them everything they need to have a great program in the courtyards of some of the biggest and neediest apartment complexes in the city. Exciting games, music, contests, and a time of teaching and building into the lives of these underprivileged kids is a part of each Kids Klub. Everyone has a great time right in their own back yard and each child who attends the program gets a free treat!
