Sunday Line's bookkeeper, Linda, and her husband, Jamie, first visited Watoto in March 2014.

"My husband and I were so impressed by what we saw and we felt God's call to return. We joined a team of 20 people from across Canada and returned in July 2015. The moment we stepped off the plane, I breathed in the sweet air of Uganda and my heart soared. 'I was home!'

Our main focus this trip was to serve with Baby Watoto. We saw how well-managed the babies’ homes are and how loved these little ones are. Some babies arrive at Watoto malnourished and sick and before long they are brought back to health – it is wonderful to see.

Some of our team worked on maintenance projects around the village homes, painting, cleaning and repairs. We also spent time sorting through the large quantities of clothing, school supplies and baby care items that we brought with us from Canada. It was wonderful to see the generosity of so many!

One of the highlights was the day we took 20 toddlers to the zoo!

Another wonderful time was when we visited one of the childrens' villages and blessed the mammas with gift bags of toiletries. They were so happy to receive them and welcomed us into their homes with open arms. They showed us some of their traditional dances and it was so much fun to watch.

Lastly we got to spend a day visiting our sponsored children. Jamie and I were welcomed into the home of the young man that we sponsor. We ate a traditional Ugandan meal, which was delicious, and spent time visiting with his siblings and mamma. They sang songs for us and shared about their schooling, their hopes and dreams for the future. They shared their love for God and their gratitude for the support they receive from sponsors around the world."

WATOTO SPONSORED FAMILY

In 2015, 98 new children were given a home in one of Watoto's villages. The holistic care in the Watoto homes provides each vulnerable child with physical care, medical intervention, education and spiritual discipleship so that each child can become a responsible Christian and a productive citizen.

Eunice, Sunday Line sponsored house-mother who cares for 6 children in her home comments: "My proudest accomplishment is the impact I have had on the people around me. They have been able to change for the better."

Sadat, 11 years old, wants to be a scientist when he grows up. He writes to Sunday Line: "I thank God for you, your family and your country. God has given me life and my family is alive and okay. I enjoy my village cluster; it is nice and attractive. People come and pray with us. Every day we put you in our prayers."

In November Watoto's Suubi Village decided to create some memories and celebrate Christmas with their 1st Fun Day - rather than with a gift distribution. The fun-filled action included swimming, bouncing castles, dancing and face painting. Everyone enjoyed a hearty lunch and the day was topped off with a cake cutting ceremony where the children expressed their gratitude for their sponsors.
